Magic to return to Central Library on Harry Potter Book Night

0

2 February will see the third annual Harry Potter Book Night celebrated throughout the world and as before St Helens Central Library will host an unforgettable evening themed around the Professors of Hogwarts.

All young witches and wizards will enter the library through Platform 9 ¾ before being sorted into their Hogwarts Houses by the library’s own Sorting Hat.

There’ll be crafts, games, activities and readings from the books in Hagrid’s Hut. Event-goers can also meet some majestic owls and birds of prey in the library’s Owlery, displayed by HawksRUs.

Sue Williamson, Head of Libraries, said: “The magic of Harry Potter continues to delight children, young people and adults alike. I am so pleased that we will be hosting another fantastic event to celebrate Harry Potter Book Night here in St Helens.

“To all aspiring Hogwarts students, secret witches and wizards, and Muggles – come along to Central Library for what promises to be a magical evening.”

Fancy dress is encouraged but not required, and there will be a prize for the best costume.

The magic will get underway at 4:30pm and finish at 6:30pm on 2 February. It is a free event, open to all ages but under-8s must be accompanied by an adult. Just knock on the door and use the unlocking charm ‘Alohomora’ to enter.
