Liverpool station flush after £100,000 loo upgrade

Liverpool Lime Street station customers are benefitting from smart new toilets thanks to a £100,000 overhaul by Network Rail as part of the Great North Rail Project.

Worn-out facilities have been replaced by brand-new modern cubicles, vanity units, shiny tiles and memorabilia celebrating the city’s heritage.

Kieran Breakey, asset engineer for Network Rail, said: “Poor drainage, ventilation and lighting meant the Lime Street loos were very grotty. Not any more. Now we have smart new facilities befitting this flagship station. We hope customers appreciate the transformation.”

This loo facelift is on top of the £340m programme of Liverpool City Region railway upgrades, including extensive improvements to Lime Street to accommodate a forecast doubling in customer volumes over the next 20 years.
