The award-winning Cultural Hubs programme is back for another series of fantastic and often free cultural experiences, taking place in St Helens libraries between October 2016 and April 2017.

The arts in libraries project – recently named Best Arts Project in the UK in the public-voted National Lottery awards – allows St Helens Council to enliven the borough’s network of 13 libraries with performances, plays, gigs, workshops, courses, exhibitions and great art events funded by the National Lottery and distributed through Arts Council England.

Councillor Jeanie Bell, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: “Cultural Hubs is opening up library spaces in incredible ways, bringing emerging and established artists to the wider public.

“We are honoured to have won the National Lottery Award and so grateful for all those who supported us, but Cultural Hubs is not resting on its laurels! The team has upped its game to ensure this will be the best season yet, so come along and engage with the arts!”

This spectacular seventh season sees World Mental Health Day celebrated (10 October, Central Library); HEADZ, by 20 Stories High Theatre Company, providing insights to the lives of young people (14 October, Central Library); the winner of the BBC New Comedy Award 2014, Lost Voice Guy (2 December, Central Library); and the world’s smallest pop-up gallery Tight Modern tour Central, Haydock and Eccleston libraries from 15 December 2016 – 15 February 2017.

And that’s just a sample of what’s in store! Ask in your local library for the full brochure or view and download it at issuu.com/culturalhubs.
