Information appeal made after man is stabbed in Wigan

An appeal for information has been made after a man was stabbed in Wigan. The man is now recovering in hospital. At 6.05pm on Monday 19th June 2017, the ambulance service notified police that a 33 year old man had been stabbed at a house on Hodder Close, Norley Hall. Police officers attended and they discovered a man with a stab wound to his abdomen. The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition, but his condition is now stable.

A 27 year old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody for questioning.

Detector Inspector Paul Rollinson of GMP’s Wigan Borough said “While the man is currently receiving treatment for a significant stab wound in hospital, we have a woman in custody in connection with this incident. Officers from our team will be around the address and in the wider area today and there is currently a scene in place on Hodder Close.

“While we are in the early stages of our investigation, we do not believe that there is any wider threat to the public however, if you have any concerns please speak to an officer in the area.”
