Have tea with Oscar Wilde at Lancaster Castle

0

Lancaster Castle is hosting an original work inspired by one of the 19th Century’s best-known playwrights this month.

‘Tea with Oscar Wilde’ will take place on Saturday 18 March at 7.30pm.

The performance reimagines the popular modern chat show for the Victorian age, hosted by the acclaimed wit of the era, Oscar Wilde. Following the now familiar format, guests include a selection of some of the ‘celebrities’ of the day.

Packed with gossip, songs and humour, there will also be plenty of opportunity for the audience to join in.

The production is by Don’t Go into the Cellar! Theatre Company, touring performers of theatrical Victorian and Edwardian literature in a macabre style.

County Councillor Marcus Johnstone, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for environment, planning and cultural services, said: “I have no doubt that this will be an entertaining evening, with an opportunity for the audience to take part and really get involved.

“This should be a very interesting performance inspired by the work and persona of a famous, celebrity playwright, in a format adapted for a modern-day audience.”

Tickets for the performances cost £10 for adults and £7.50 for concessions and children. Numbers are limited, so booking is essential.

To book a ticket, to find out about opening times or for more information phone 01524 64998 or call in at the castle shop between 9.30am and 4.30pm.

This venue is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users and disabled access is limited. The production is also not suitable for visitors under 11, as some of the material is inappropriate.
