Get ready for a double taste of Chorley

Fans of local food and drink are being encouraged to visit Chorley town centre next weekend when the popular A Taste of Chorley event returns on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June.

Due to its popularity, the event, which is organised by Chorley Council and local traders, has been extended to two days to give even more people the opportunity to try the delicious local food and drink on offer.

Now in its third year, the event will see market traders and local businesses set up on Fazakerley Street in Chorley town centre on both days between 11am and 4pm to showcase their produce, give cooking tips and provide healthy eating advice.

Members of the public can also get involved by entering one of three categories in the Great Chorley Bake Off competition, including professional, under 16 and adults. Details on how to enter can be found at checkoutchorley.com/atasteofchorley

Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council said: “It’s fantastic to see events growing and developing each year with A Taste of Chorley being extended to two days to meet demand.

“It’s a great event that brings local businesses and traders together to celebrate our local food culture and it enables them to share their passion for creating excellent food and drink produce.

“No matter what your taste, there’s something for everyone on both Saturday and Sunday and I would definitely encourage you to come and enjoy A Taste of Chorley.”

The event is free to attend, and people can get some top tips from local chefs giving cooking demonstrations, whilst they enjoy some delicious food and live music.

There will also be a wide range of local artisan producers selling mouth-watering produce for you to take home and create your own delicious dishes as well as family fun, including face painting, a climbing wall and small children’s rides.

Plus, there will be several trails around the town centre, including a taste trail where participants can sample local foods and a children’s ‘fiver fest’ trail where you can find the hidden Totally locally Chorley £5 notes.

On Saturday, people can also stay later to enjoy some live entertainment on Fazakerley Street into the early evening.
