Families and adults alike looking for Wednesday holiday fun in August should head for Gawthorpe Hall in Padiham, near Burnley.

The activities will be held on 1, 8, 15 and 22 August and range from pond dipping and snail racing, to creative crafts and a teddy bear’s picnic.

There’s no need to book and the activities will run from 1pm to 4pm. There will be a cost of £2.50 for each child taking part.

County Councillor Peter Buckley, cabinet member for community and cultural services, said:” I’m really pleased by the activities that are being held at Gawthorpe Hall.

“Children will be able to learn and have lots of fun, and adults will be greatly entertained.”

All children must be supervised by an adult for all of the activities.

Entrance to the garden and grounds of Gawthorpe Hall is free. Normal admission price to Gawthorpe Hall is £6 for adults and £4 for concessions. National Trust members and children go free.

Normal opening times are 12pm to 5pm Wednesdays to Sundays, with last entry to the Hall at 4.30pm. The museum is open on Bank Holidays.
