Further vandalism at Skelmersdale’s Delph Clough

0

SkemNews have recently been sent some photos of the latest bout of vandalism at Delph Clough. While some people may say ‘it is only a bin that has been demolished and some holes put in stuff’ the fact that someone has gone out and vandalised someone’s hard work is wrong.

The work carried out at Delph Clough was started by a local resident as something to do to keep themselves busy and to give something back to the community. They have spent multiple weeks working to transform the area and give something back to the community for no reward other than to try and improve the local area. The work started out with one person carrying it out, and started to grow with other locals offering help in a number of ways, all of which made a difference to the local area.

After the previous bout of vandalism, in which many of the features that had been worked on and created were wrecked, the resident who started the work decided to carry on and fix what had been damaged, as did those who had also joined in. This was all done for the good of the community to try and bring back a local area, from what had become overgrown and unused into an area where people could go and spend time enjoying the local area.

We have not been told as to the plans of those who have been carrying out this work as to what they are going to do after this latest bout of vandalism, but hopefully they can find a reason to carry on. If they decided to call it quits and walk away and leave the area to become overgrown once again, they could not really be blamed as it would be understandable, although a loss to the local community.

We will keep you updated as to anything we hear relating to the work at Delph Clough and to the plans of those carrying out the work. Hopefully the next update will be a more positive one!
