Funding is now available to help voluntary groups

Lancashire County Council is encouraging groups from the voluntary, community and faith sector to apply for a grant to support their work.

The county council’s Local Initiative Fund (LIF) has reopened for applications, with almost £140,000 available across the 12 Lancashire districts.

The deadline to submit your application is 5pm on Thursday 2 April.

County Councillor Jennifer Mein, leader of the county council, said: “This is the fifth year that our fund has been providing grants that support a wide variety of different activities and projects, in communities right across Lancashire.

“Around the county last year, the LIF supported a wide range of projects including sports, dance workshops, activities for young people and environmental projects, as well as workshops on managing your money and how to find a job.

“The county council is calling on groups and organisations to apply for funding to benefit local projects.”

The LIF Scheme provides the opportunity for third sector groups and organisations in Lancashire to apply for grants from £1,000 to £5,000, if their project supports one of the scheme’s three priorities:
• Helping families
• Skills and employment
• Activities and programmes for young people aged 12–19 (up to 25 for young people with learning difficulties or disabilities).
