Family fun success at Concourse Shopping Centre

Dozens of families enjoyed a host of free events at the summer pop-up park at the Concourse Shopping Centre, Skelmersdale, last week.

The indoor park in East Square, near Wilko, which comprises a chill-out area with deckchairs, grass sofa, bench and beanbags, hosted craft sessions and bug hunts, as well as circus skills workshops between Thursday and Saturday.

Florist Hayley Thomas, who owns Blossoms House of Flowers, led flower crown and buttonhole sessions, teaching with youngsters and adults alike how to create the real flower crafts.

Pulse, the community hub, also joined in the fun, providing free face painting for youngsters and inviting children to make cressheads. It collected donations for a local foodbank during the final summer events of the holiday and will continue to accept dried food and toiletries over the coming weeks.

Jennifer Burnett, retail marketing manager at the Concourse Shopping Centre, said: “We’ve enjoyed a busy summer, with lots of free events for children and their families that have been very well received by everyone. It was great to have such a good send-off for the final few days of the summer holidays. We pride ourselves on being a shopping centre that puts the community at its heart, so it’s always a pleasure to see people enjoying themselves.”
