Family fun on Armed Forces Day

There’s a whole host of free activities on offer as Chorley celebrates Armed Forces Day on Saturday 25 June in the magnificent setting of Astley Park.

The action starts at 10am when youngsters aged 12-18 years can discover life as an army cadet. The town’s Army Cadet Forces will be in the activity space of the Coach House until 4pm inviting people to sample the adventures and fun they offer.

At 12noon to 4pm, there’s a drop in session at the Chorley Family History Research Centre in Astley Farmhouse where the knowledgeable team will help you uncover the military history of your family.

And from 1.30pm to 3.30pm you can bring your military objects to the conference room upstairs in the Coach House, for experts from the Chorley in the Great War and Chorley Remembers groups to identify.

It’s also the final weekend of the compelling audio-visual exhibition Sacrifice: Stories of Bravery and Resilience from Recent Conflicts which is showing in Astley Farmhouse from 12noon to 3.30pm on Saturday and Sunday 25 and 26 June.
