Some of the impressive artwork produced by Lancashire Adult Learning’s (LAL) staff and students will be on display in Preston next month.

From Thursday 7 July to Saturday 9 July, visitors to Lancashire Archives, in Bow Lane, will be able to take a look at the range of creative work showcased in the free exhibition.

County Councillor Marcus Johnstone, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for environment, planning and cultural services, said: “This event gives visitors an opportunity to see the great variety of work that has been produced.

“The exhibition showcases a real breadth of talent and features a range of artwork, including drawings, paintings and ceramics.

“I hope visitors will enjoy coming along to the Record Office to see this exhibition. We’ve hosted exhibitions here before and received some very positive feedback. With historic records going back 900 years there is plenty to provide inspiration.”

Principal of LAL Amanda Melton, said: “We are looking forward to seeing this fantastic three-day exhibition opened to the public in July. This is a creative collaboration between Lancashire Adult Learning’s teachers and learners – which celebrates everyone as an artist. Well done to everyone involved.

“I encourage all members of the local community to visit the event and see the wealth of talent on your doorstep.”

LAL provides courses for adults throughout Lancashire. A wide range of courses are offered, including those designed to help people improve basic skills for life and work, such as maths, English and computer skills.

It also caters for adults who are job seeking and brushing up on their skills, adults who have a learning disability, and supports people who are making a return to learning.

Education and training is currently provided for 22,000 people, delivered in over 120 community based venues throughout the county.

From 1 August this year, Nelson and Colne College will permanently take on the responsibility for running Lancashire Adult Learning College, offering learning opportunities throughout Lancashire.

Entry to the exhibition is free, and runs from 10am to 4pm each day.
