Double student accommodation shortlisting for Edge Hill

Edge Hill University has been shortlisted in two categories for the 2019 National Student Housing Survey awards.

The University will be represented in the Best University Halls and Best Value for Money categories, both of which they were victorious in last year.

Edge Hill will be going for a hat-trick in the latter category – having also won Best University Halls in 2016.

Nominations are based solely on the direct feedback of students.

Head of Accommodation Services, Kate McAdam, said: “We are delighted to learn of our nominations, a further endorsement of the good work that has been done to provide a safe, welcoming, affordable environment across campus.

“The fact that the awards are voted for by students is a further reflection of how much the efforts of the teams on campus are recognised and strengthens our determination to maintain the campus as among the best available throughout the UK.”

There are currently 2,486 rooms available on campus for first years in a range of catered and traditional halls and modern flats, and second, third and postgraduate students, accommodated in brand new townhouses.

All first year undergraduate students from the UK and EU who make Edge Hill their first choice are guaranteed a place in the University’s halls of residence for year one of their course if they apply before the deadline of 31 July.

A refurbishment programme covering half of the existing Main Halls is ongoing, due to be completed ahead of the new academic year.

“National research, feedback from students and our demand data shows that students value high quality ensuite accommodation”, added Kate. “This programme will increase the amount of affordable ensuite accommodation we can offer to students, with more than 90 rooms being converted from standard to ensuite.

“We pride ourselves on being a university offering high quality accommodation at competitive rates, and this new programme will further increase the value for money we deliver to students.”

The National Student Housing Survey Awards are run by Red Brick Research and University Business and have been running since 2008. This year’s winners will be announced on 10 September.
