A St Helens dog owner was ordered to pay a total £512.80 after being found guilty of a dog fouling offence at Liverpool Magistrates Court today (22 July).

Lee Jones of Fell Grove, St Helens, was fined £80 after being found guilty in his absence for non-payment of a Fixed Penalty Notice, after being observed failing to remove dog faeces on Lorton Avenue, Moss Bank, St. Helens, by a St. Helens Council Dog Welfare and Enforcement Officer.

The court heard how on the 25 February this year, Jones allowed his dog to foul on a grassed area outside residential properties and walked off without making any attempt to clear up.

Jones was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice – which was not paid within the prescribed time limit.

He was fined £80, with costs of £412.80, and also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20.
