A top digital advisor has joined the team at Chorley’s new digital hub ahead of the £8.4 million development opening later in the summer.

The latest member of staff to join the exciting project is experienced marketer and self-confessed digital geek Gill Millington who will be the University Advisor, offering free on-site support to businesses.

It is part of the unique offer for businesses moving to the development that will get state-of-the-art facilities, superfast broadband, an opportunity to collaborate and free business advice and support.

Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council, said: “One of the major benefits that businesses moving to the development will have is the access to free advice and support that will help them to reach their full potential.

“We’re delighted to have Gill working with us and I’m sure with her knowledge and track record we’ll see businesses developing new products, getting them to market and being a huge success.”

The hub will have a full-time on-site business advisor as well as the university advisor that will provide the link between the businesses and universities in the region to spark lots of creativity.

The site itself offers 40,000sq ft of state-of-the-art office space and will provide high value jobs for hundreds of people and will put Chorley on the map as the centre of the rapidly growing digital sector in Lancashire.

“The centre will have a high capacity server and super-speed broadband, vital for advanced digital businesses,” explained Councillor Bradley.

“The space available includes hot desks, micro pods, flexible desks and more traditional office suites and mix of meeting and training rooms will be on site offering workshop facilities as well as a networking zone.

“We’re just finalising the access route into the site and we will be able to announce the opening date very shortly.”

The building was part-funded by a £4.1m grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and will be operated by Chorley Council.
