Council invites cyclists to light up the dark in the park

0

St Helens Council is inviting cyclists of all ages to light up the dark at a unique event in Taylor Park.

On 25 November, members of the council’s Road Safety, Ranger Services and Healthy Living teams will be on hand at the park’s Ranger Centre to offer free information on the health benefits of swapping pop for healthy drinks, cycling advice and a ‘bling your bike’ service, with lights and reflective accessories.

Sustrans – the national charity organisation which advocates greener methods of transport – will be on hand to deliver free bike checks before Light up the Dark event-goers set off on two guided bike rides around Taylor Park from the Cycle Hub (opposite the Boat House) at 4:30pm for a family-friendly twilight jaunt, and at 6:30pm for a leisurely after-dark cycle.

So come along on Wednesday 25 November – bling your bike, get cycling advice, bike checks and more! The event kicks off at 3:30pm and closes at 7:30pm after the later bike ride. Warm clothes and waterproofs are advised.

Bikes, helmets and hi-vis jackets will be available for adults, if needed, in the park’s Cycle Hub by the Ranger Centre, but children must bring their own. For further information, please contact the Road Safety Team on 01744 676851.
