CONNECT launches for young people

CONNECT – the youth advice service – has officially launched, following major investment in the service.

Young people took a look around the newly refurbished facilities at CONNECT, based at the Gateway community resource centre, on 31 January.

A wide range of information and advice from organisations that support the health and wellbeing of young people was provided, along with a limited screening service.

CONNECT (formerly known as the Youth Advice Service) has recently undergone a full refurbishment and benefitted from investment in the outreach team to expand the service.

Service Manager for Warrington Sexual Health, Sian Davies, said: “This is an exciting time for us as these improvements will deliver a better service for young people in Warrington.

“Our new name CONNECT reflects the role the service has in providing young people with a confidential sexual health information, advice and treatment service.”

CONNECT is located at The Gateway, 85 – 101 Sankey Street, Warrington, WA1 1SR. The service is provided by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and commissioned by Warrington Council.

Warrington Council’s Executive board member for children’s services Councillor Jean Carter said: “I’m delighted that the council is able to support Bridgewater in delivering such a valuable service to the young people of Warrington. This is another welcome addition to the wide range of community services on offer from the Gateway.”

CONNECT is open: Monday 3.30 to 6.30pm, Wednesday 3.30-6.30pm and Saturday 12-3pm. For more information visit: www.warringtonsexualhealth.nhs.uk/connect-1
