Come to Council Get Online Week events

0

West Lancashire Borough Council is supporting national Get Online Week by helping residents learn that getting the most out of the internet can be easy and fun.

The theme of this year’s Get Online Week ‘See how it feels when you Try 1 Thing’,  the idea being to encourage people to use the internet to do just one thing they’d normally do in a shop or bank, in a doctor’s or chemist, or even over the phone.

Council staff are organising events to support people to get online who have either never been online or have tried and would just like a little extra helping hand. Everyone is welcome to come along for a chat.

Jacqui Sinnott-Lacey, West Lancashire Borough Council Director of Housing and Inclusion, said: “The internet provides so many opportunities for people to save money and get more out of life. We want to help people get started using the worldwide web. Even if you send the odd email, use Facebook or read the news on your phone, you could still be missing out on so much.

“Getting more out of the internet doesn’t have to be scary or costly. Doing just one new thing online is all you need to do to get started – come along to our event and we can help you do just that!”

The dates for events being organised by the Council in West Lancashire are:

  • Monday 15 October 2018 – 10am-3pm – Evermoor Hub, Birleywood, Digmoor
  • Wednesday 17 October 2018 – 10am-3pm – Tanhouse Community Centre, Ennerdale, Tanhouse
  • Thursday 18 October 2018 – 10am-3pm – The Gallery Café, Chapel Gallery, Ormskirk

There is no need to book in advance. Just turn up on the day.
