Chorley skies bright and beautiful over Astley Park

Thousands gathered around the warm bonfire in Astley Park on Friday to watch a magnificent firework display light up the Chorley sky.

The event, organised by Chorley Council, attracted families from across the borough and further afield to watch the spectacular firework show, which this year included a musical soundtrack. There was also plenty of traditional bonfire food and drink on offer for everyone to enjoy.

Councillor Peter Wilson, who oversees events at Chorley Council, said: “The Astley Park Bonfire and Firework display was once again a huge success. This year we made it bigger and better by playing music as the fireworks lit up the sky.

“Families and friends flocked into the park wearing their woolly winter coats and knee length wellies to see the Chorley sky light up with bright colourful lights. With Astley Hall as the backdrop, the fireworks display was a beautiful sight and a great community event.

“We also had food stalls with traditional toffee apples and treacle toffee. We’re delighted to see that so many people turned out to mark the occasion with us and enjoy a great night out.”

Throughout the night people were able to give voluntary donations to the Mayor of Chorley’s charities which include Lancashire Mind and Young Addaction.
