Families, couples and friends who are looking for inspiration for a great day out are being encouraged to check out Chorley and its many attractions and events with the launch of a new visitor website, checkoutchorley.com

The new visitor website has been launched by Chorley Council in a bid to showcase the area and what it has to offer to people of all ages.

It will act as an online tourist information centre for Chorley and promises to deliver informative content, convenience and inspiration to connect local people and visitors to everything Chorley has to offer for a great day out.

Attractions such as Astley Hall, Coach House and Park, Rivington Pike, Hoghton Tower, Chorley town centre, Fredericks Ice Cream Parlour, Chorley Markets, Chorley Little Theatre, Botany Bay, Go Ape and Yarrow Valley Country Park all feature on the site.

There is also inspiration for the best places to go if you fancy cycling, walking or exploring the great outdoors, the beautiful canals and the historic halls in the area. Plus the site will feature all of the borough’s big events that last year attracted over 50,000 people to Chorley.

Chief Executive of Chorley Council, Gary Hall, said: “With some of the most beautiful countryside in the region, a thriving town centre, beautiful canals, parks and historic halls, Chorley is the perfect destination for a great day out.

“By launching checkoutchorley.com we want to make the area as accessible as possible to everyone and tell even more people about the fantastic attractions Chorley has to offer to the day visitor, no matter what your age or interest.

checkoutchorley.com brings Chorley’s attractions and large events together in one place, making it easier for people to plan a great day out in Chorley.”

The new website will be supported by an advertising campaign across the North West that will run throughout the spring and into summer and is part of Chorley Council’s drive to increase visitor numbers and boost the local economy.

“The visitor economy is growing and we recognise that people search online for things to do on a weekly, if not daily basis”, added Mr Hall.

“There are so many different things to do and places people can visit in Chorley and it is important that we tell people and inspire them to take a look.

“Last year, the council-organised events alone attracted over 50,000 people to Chorley with many more attending other events in the area. The feedback we get from visitors is that they really enjoy our events and what Chorley has to offer. We want to build on this by attracting even more visitors and boosting the local economy even further.”

People who visit the area and want to share their experiences and pictures as inspiration to others are being encouraged to use #checkoutchorley on social media and follow @visitchorley on Instagram, @ChorleyCouncil on Twitter and like Chorley Council on Facebook.
