Celebrations planned to mark the Queen’s birthday

Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday will be celebrated over the weekend of June 10-12 and a number of street parties and events held in parks and libraries will take place across St Helens to mark the occasion.

On Friday 10 June from 3:30pm – 7:30pm and Saturday 11 June from 11:00am – 6:00pm there will be funfair in Mesnes Park, Newton-le-Willows – while on Sunday 12 June from 1:00pm -6:00pm, the St Helen Ranger Service invites you to join them for a picnic in the park event.

Held in Bankes Park, Billinge – there will be various stalls and activities to enjoy and everybody is invited to attend in ‘patriotic’ fancy dress.

Please note that the Bankes Park car park will not be available for parking for this event.

Meanwhile, St Helens Libraries Service will be celebrating the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II by holding a Royal Read & Rhyme Time event at Garswood Library on Thursday 9 June from 2pm which includes stories and craft making.

The following roads will be closed for street parties:

Norfork Road, Toll Bar

Norfork Road will be closed between its junctions with Stafford Road and Lincoln Road on Saturday 11 June from 10:00 – 12:00am

Reservoir Street, Nutgrove

Closed from number 26 to the end of the cul-de-sac on Saturday 11 June from 10:00am – 12:00am

Fairlie Drive, Rainhill

Closed from number 2 and number 24 on Sunday 12 June from 10:00am – 12:00am

Heatherleigh

Closed from number 35 to the end of the cul-de-sac on Sunday 12 June from 12:00pm – 12:00am
