A call for gift donations for children at risk of waking up to nothing on Christmas morning has been issued by a Skelmersdale care home.

Aaron Crest Care Home, on Tanhouse Road, is taking donations of new and unwrapped gifts as part of a region-wide appeal.

The home has registered as a drop-off point for Liverpool-based Radio City’s Mission Christmas campaign.

It is one of hundreds of locations across the North West taking donations, which will be distributed to children in the area for Christmas day.

Adrienne Radcliffe, home manager at Aaron Crest Care Home, said: “We heard the appeal on the radio and signed the home up as a drop off point right away.

“We’ve already started receiving donations from staff, residents and visitors, and are appealing for more.

“All gifts will go to children in our region this Christmas so we’re asking anyone when they are next out Christmas shopping to pick up a toy or other gift and drop it off at the care home.”
