Asmall School Visit County Hall

0

County Councillor Nikki Hennessy welcomed pupils and teachers from Asmall School, Ormskirk at Lancashire County Hall in Preston on Friday. The pupils represent their classmates on the Schools council.

Nikki said ‘I am so grateful for the School to allow the pupils and teachers to travel up to County Hall by train. Officers had organised a tour of the Council Chambers and a presentation on what Lancashire County Council does and who they are responsible for. The young people actively engaged in a quiz where they had to look for information around the chambers.

‘The pupils were very interested in what the officers had to say about the way Lancashire County Council worked and asked lots questions of officers and myself.

‘It was a brilliant opportunity for the young people who represent their class mates to see how I represent them in County Hall.

‘What I gained from this is knowing that we have a lot of young people who want to help their family, friends and the community they live in. They have inspired me and I hope they will continue to represent their school friends. Who knows they may decide to become our future politicians, even a Member of Parliament.

‘I would also like to thank the Chair of Lancashire County Council, Councillor Ann Cheetham and Officers who supported this visit with me.’
