Two minutes silence in Coronation Park, Ormskirk on 11 November

The West Lancashire Borough Council Ormskirk Armistice Day service to pay tribute to those who have suffered or lost their lives serving their country, will be held at the Ormskirk War Memorial in Coronation Park this year and future years (previously held at the Ormskirk Clock Tower).

This year’s Ceremony will take place on Saturday 11 November starting at 10.45am, with veterans and local clergy speaking at the service and those attending observing a two minutes silence at 11am.  Members of the public are also invited to come along.

The Two Minutes Silence Ceremony is separate to and complements the traditional Remembrance Sunday services which will take place across the borough on Sunday, 12 November 2017.

Councillor Neil Furey, Mayor of West Lancashire, said: “The Two Minutes silence ceremony is very well attended by local people and anyone who wants to come along this year to pay their respects is more than welcome to do so.

“This ceremony is separate to the annual Remembrance Sunday Services and I would encourage everyone in West Lancashire to gather with pride to pay our respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”

Remembrance Sunday services for 2017 will take place in different parts of West Lancashire the day after the Two Minutes Silence Ceremony, and more details of those will be announced by the Council shortly.

Two minutes silence in Burscough on 11 November: The Lathom and Burscough Branch of the Royal British Legion will also be hosting the Armistice Day Service at 10.30am on Saturday 11 November 2017 at HMS Ringtail Memorial, Pippin St, Burscough. The Deputy Mayor of West Lancashire Councillor Noel Delaney will attend. The Memorial Garden is adjacent to Booths Café where people can meet from 10.00am. Everyone is welcome. There will be service and a two minute silence, after which wreaths will be laid at the monument. The Last Post will be at 11am.
