Appeal for witnesses following collision in Chorley

A man has received serious injuries following a collision on Lyons Lane South at the junction with George Street in Chorley yesterday (Thursday 8th February).

The incident happened at around 11:37am yesterday when a Rover 414 I left the carriageway at the roundabout and collided with metal railings positioned along the kerbline. Three pedestrians were walking along the footpath to the far side of the railings at the time.

A male pedestrian, in his 50s suffered various injuries to his legs and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Two female pedestrians received minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 80s, was taken to Chorley Hospital where he is being treated for a suspected medical episode.

The road was closed for two hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Sergeant Oliver Jones of Lancashire’s Road Policing Unit, said: “We’re investigating the circumstances of the collision and would appeal to any witnesses to come forward.”
