Skelmersdale Police are trying to trace witnesses to a carjacking in Skelmersdale in which a man had handguns pointed towards his face.

At 4:30pm on Tuesday May 29th the victim arranged to meet two men at the Allied Business Centre in Potter Place, Skelmersdale.

The men got into his vehicle – a silver Landrover Discovery – and threatened him with firearms, while a third man waited outside.

The victim pushed the guns away and managed to escape before the gunmen fled the scene in his car.

DC Louise Rigby, of Lancashire Police South CID, said: “As the victim ran away from his vehicle, he flagged down a woman who was passing in her vehicle, which can only be described as a small car.

“We would really like to speak to this woman who may be able to help with our investigation.

“There was also a TNT van seen in the area around the time of the offence, and we are keen to speak to the driver.

“Fortunately incidents such as this are rare but none the less very frightening for the victim.

“We believe this was a targeted robbery and we are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the offence.

“If you were in the Pimbo Road area around 4:30pm on May 29th, or can help us to identify the female motorist or TNT driver, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting SB1802847 or alternatively you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  • Two men have been charged with robbery and have been remanded in custody in connection with this incident. A third has been released under investigation
