Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Wrightington on Sunday (8th April).

At around 14:55 hours, a cyclist suffered serious injury after crashing his bicycle on High Moor Lane, close to the High Moor Restaurant.

It is believed the cyclist was riding down a steep gradient when he left the road to the nearside and was thrown from the bike.

The cyclist, in his 40s, suffered serious injuries to his head and face and was taken by Air Ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information they may have.

They are asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number 889 of 9th April.
