Organisers are adding the final touches to a packed programme of events as part of next month’s (August) Newton Town Show.

Held annually in Newton-le-Willows’ Mesnes Park, Newton Town Show is organised by Newton and Earlestown Community Group (NECG) and considered to be one of the biggest free to attend events in the borough, attracting hundreds upon hundreds of visitors each year.

Highlights of this year’s event include monster truck displays from ‘Big Pete’ and ‘Grim Reaper’ –while event goers can also experience driving a mini monster truck for themselves.

On top of this there will be an arts and crafts competition; music from local musicians; dance shows; thrilling helicopter tours of the town – alongside food and craft stalls; fun fair amusements -and the traditional tug o’ war.

As before, the event will see dozens of classic car lovers show off their motors. If you have a vintage vehicle you want to display, simply arrive at Mesnes Park off Park Road North before 11am on the day.

Newton ward councillor and Chairman of the Town Show Organising Committee, Seve Gomez-Aspron, said: “NECG have pulled it out of the bag once again and made the town show bigger and better for 2018!

“I’d like to give a big thanks to THINK! Estate Agents in Earlestown, Taylor Wimpey at Whittle Chase in Newton and all the other businesses who – without their support – this event would not be possible.

“The event is the biggest in the borough and entirely free, so please come down on the day and enjoy the sunshine in Mesnes Park! All surplus money rolls into next year’s show and I need to thank the hard working team of volunteers that make this happen every year.”

Newton Town Show will take place on Saturday 4 August, from 11am to 5pm, and the NECG is always on the lookout for more stewards to make the day a great experience for everyone.
