New venues widen offer at Chorley Live

Representatives from some of the Chorley Live venues gather at Chorley town hall to announce the Chorley Live and Derian House partnership for the 2019 event

The award-winning Chorley Live is expanding again this year with more venues and an outdoor stage for the first time.

The event has grown dramatically over the last few years and this year there will be more capacity with a variety of venues suitable for people of all ages, from young children to the older generation, who want a weekend of live entertainment.

The event will also host a dementia-friendly venue with the new Primrose Gardens opening its doors to the public just before the residents start to move in.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, said: “The excitement is really starting to build for this year’s Chorley Live and as the event grows we are continuing to increase the capacity for visitors.

“We’ve acted on feedback from visitors to incorporate an outdoor stage, which will be on Fazakerley Street, and this will be a great place for people to enjoy the entertainment.

“Similarly, we’ve made our event more inclusive this year and will use our new Primrose Gardens development, on Fleet Street, to host a dementia-friendly venue.

“We’re also going to be expanding the Covered Market offer to incorporate two separate venues and Yaeger Music Studious, on Queen’s Road, will also be taking part.”

Now in its seventh year, Chorley Live takes over dozens of venues from cafes to churches and everything in between, sprinkling a bit of magic over Chorley town centre on a Friday and Saturday night.

In addition to once again teaming up with the Creative Network, Chorley Council is working with Derian House on this year’s Chorley Live festival as part of a partnership to raise further awareness of the event and the children’s hospice.

Nigel Stewart, founder of the Creative Network, said: “Each year the event gets bigger and better and the positive feedback we have is overwhelming.

“It gives everyone a great weekend in Chorley – whether that’s the punters coming to enjoy the entertainment or the venues that benefit from extra trade – so what’s not to like.

“Wristbands are on sale now so make sure you get yours – they are on sale at the venues or from any of the acts taking part.”

The bright green wristbands that guarantee entry to all venues are on sale for just £5 and feature the Derian House logo.

Chorley Live takes place in venues across Chorley town centre on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 October. Further information can be found at chorleylive.com
