Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses after a 31-year-old man suffered a serious leg injury following a collision in Ormskirk.

Officers were called around 7pm following reports of an accident on St Helens Road close to Edge Hill University.

A blue Ford Ka had collided with a Suzuki motorbike travelling southbound.

The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old man from Skelmersdale, suffered a broken leg and a suspected broken hand.

He was taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old woman from Southport, was not injured.

The road was closed for close to three hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses and encouraging anyone with dashboard camera footage to come forward.
PC Stuart Hart, of Lancashire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for information following a collision in Ormskirk.

“The rider of the motorbike sustained serious injuries to his lower left leg.

“I am hoping someone would have witnessed this collision as it is on the main road from Ormskirk to the M58 motorway.

“I would also ask anyone in the area at the time of the collision using a dashboard mounted camera to check for any footage captured.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log reference 1345 of June 1.
