Wigan residents are benefitting from a £300,000 investment through the recent opening of a new state of the art opticians in the area.
The new Ashton-in-Makerfield Specsavers store comes complete with top quality store fittings and equipment, including a hospital grade Optical Coherence Tomography machine (OCT) and three state of the art testing rooms across optics and audiology.
The family-run store, which opened its doors in The Gerard Centre on June 1, will be led by its store directors, Graeme, Sue, Laura, and Tim Gardner, who represent 90 years of combined experience of working with Specsavers.
Lois Betty, who will be joining the Ashton-in-Makerfield team as manager, is excited to start the new journey with the store. She says: ‘I was just 16 when I started working full time for Specsavers after seeing a job advertised for a trainee lab technician. Now, 16 years on, I’ve moved out of the lab and gained further qualifications.
‘I’m really excited to embrace my new role as the manager of the Ashton-in-Makerfield store. I’m glad to be still working alongside the same directors that I’ve worked alongside for 16 years, but in a brand-new and exciting location.’
The Ashton-in-Makerfield store, as well as the local Wigan and Skelmersdale stores, are currently recruiting for an experienced optical assistant, lab technician, and dispensing optician.
