A health open day is taking place at Garstang Library on Thursday 5 April from 10am to 3pm.
The event is being held to help mark World Health Day on Saturday 7 April.
It is free to attend, and forms part of the ‘Reading for Health’ programme, aimed at helping people who live with long-term health issues to improve their health and wellbeing through reading.
Visitors to the library on Windsor Road will be able to find out more about the services that local groups and organisations in Wyre have to offer.
Organisations already confirmed to take part on the day include:
• Kepple Lane Pharmacy who will be providing free health checks
• The Lancashire Wellbeing Service
• Age UK
• Dementia memory cafe
A free talk about healthy eating and the labelling of food will take place at Parbold Library, on The Common, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
The talk will be given by Debbie Young, health education officer for West Lancashire Borough Council. It is aimed at helping people to eat more healthily and will explain how food is labelled.
County Councillor Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: “These events are an effective way of delivering community-based help and support for people.
“I hope that people go along and find the events useful.”
Anyone who lives in the UK can join a Lancashire library, either online or by visiting in person. It’s free and there are no age restrictions.
