Nominations are now open for the 2022 Knowsley Education Awards, when this prestigious ceremony returns for the first time since the pandemic.

What’s more, as part of Knowsley’s Borough of Culture celebrations, this year’s awards will be held in the borough’s very exciting new venue – the Shakespeare North Playhouse!

The aspirational event will showcase the very best schools, teachers, pupils, support staff, team and individual achievements in the borough.

A total of 17 awards will be on offer, with a panel of experts assessing nominations before producing a shortlist ahead of the awards evening on Tuesday, 8 November.

The categories will be as follows:

  • Outstanding Achievement (Four awards, one for Primary, Secondary, Special and Post-16)
  • Eco Champions
  • School Citizen of the Year
  • STEM Project of the Year
  • Teacher of the Year
  • Support Champion of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • School Governor of the Year
  • Diversity and Inclusion Award
  • Enterprise and Careers Award
  • School of the Year (Primary / Secondary / Special School of the Year)
  • Post-16 Provider of the Year

More detail about the criteria for each category, and how to enter, can be found on the Knowsley Education Awards website at www.KnowsleyEducationAwards.com.

Cllr Margaret Harvey, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “Before the pandemic came along, the Knowsley Education Awards had become a real highlight in the calendar for our schools and young people. They’re a chance to take time away from the day to day work going on in our classrooms to recognise and celebrate success and share good practice.

“I’m delighted that the awards are now able to return for 2022 as an important part of our Borough of Culture celebrations. I can’t wait to read through all the entries this year – I have a feeling it’ll be the best year yet.”
