jack and the beanstalk review

St Helens Theatre Royal put on a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk which felt a little different to be watching during October. Halloween had not been and gone and here is a panto being performed, which offered a chance to see how it would feel watching what is usually a traditional Christmas experience before ‘Tricking or Treating’ or even Bonfire Night Fireworks had been set off.

We need not have worried about the show being at what could be considered the wrong time traditionally and it feeling a bit strange in October. The show was enjoyable from start to finish, with all who attended having a great time. Getting into the theatre and to our seats was as quick and straightforward as we have become accustomed to in the St Helens Theatre Royal and this added to the whole experience.

While everybody enjoyed the show, which had aspects included for all ages to enjoy, the best reviews of the show came from the youngsters who attended. These reviews are as follows:

Imogen Aged 10 – It was brilliant and amazing, because they made me laugh all the way through the Panto. I enjoyed the dancing, and all the acting was fantastic. The costumes were amazing and stylish and they were the best costumes I have ever seen. I loved every single part of it. I enjoyed having my picture taken with the Princess and Jack afterwards.

Anastacia Aged 16 – Jack and the Beanstalk at the St Helens Royal Theatre was fantastic as it had a lot of adult humour in it. It was good the way they interacted with the audience and got them involved in the Pantomime. It was funny the way things didn’t go to plan, but they made it part of the show. The effects with the fire made it more realistic. I like how we could meet the cast and have pictures taken with them. I would definitely recommend these shows to my friends and family and I can’t wait to come back to see the Christmas show Goldilocks and the Three Bears. I am so excited.

To sum up the performance of Jack and the Beanstalk at St Helens Theatre Royal, it was a very enjoyable show that was well performed by the whole cast and although there were a couple of small hiccups, these were in the best traditions of panto included into the show and added to the entertainment. Credit goes to all who were involved with the show, not only for their excellent performances but also the way they interacted with the theatregoers after the performance and taking pictures with them. Which after recent times was a nice touch and added to the experience and enjoyment.
