An appeal for information has been made by police after an elderly man was burgled of money and a gold watch last week in Ashton. The theft has taken place at some time between 10:30am on Tuesday 13th January and 10pm on Friday 16th January on Seymour Road when the 88 year old occupant had been out.

The offender(s) have forced a window frame which has smashed the window, which has allowed them to gain access inside. The offender(s) have then taken a substantial amount of money and also an extendable gold watch with distinctive engraving on the outside, which stated that it had been a gift for forty years’ service at British Aerospace

PC Iain Shrager, Preston Police, said ‘This was a callous theft where an elderly man has had a significant amount of money stolen and his treasured gold watch. I am appealing for anyone who may have seen this watch, or who has been offered one like this for sale, particularly with the distinctive engraving to get in touch. We would really like to reunite the victim with this watch as it was of huge sentimental value to him. Similarly, if you have any information about this incident, please come forward.’

Anybody who has got any information can get in touch with police on 101 quoting incident number 397 of 17th January 2015.

Alternatively, people can get in touch with Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or they can go online at Crimestoppers-uk.org. There are no personal details taken, no information is traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
