An appeal for information has been made by officers after a house was burgled in Burnley at the weekend, in which more than £2,000 worth of items were taken including two urns. The burglary occurred at sometime between 7pm on Friday 2nd January and 9:45pm on Saturday 3rd January at a house on Branch Road, Burnley whilst the homeowner was away.

There were more than £2,000 of personal items taken, including games consoles, electrical items, ornaments and trainers. Also taken were two urns, one of which contained the ashes of the victim’s biological father and the other urn contained the ashes of her step-father.

PC Ash Patel of Burnley Police said ‘This burglary has understandably caused the homeowner a great deal of stress and anxiety made all the more worse that the ashes of her loved ones have also been taken. We are keen to trace those responsible and would urge anyone who has information that could assist with finding the perpetrators and recovering the property, especially the urns.’

Anybody who has got any information can get in touch with police on 101 quoting log reference 1186 of January 3rd.

Alternatively, people can get in touch with Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or they can go online at Crimestoppers-uk.org. There are no personal details taken, no information is traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
