The Home Office has recently launched the third phase of it’s ‘Disrespect Nobody’ campaign which will run until the beginning of May.
The campaign aims to prevent young people, aged 12 to 18 years old, from becoming perpetrators and victims of abusive relationships. The campaign helps young people to understand what a healthy relationship is, as well as re-thinking their views of controlling behaviour, violence, abuse, sexual abuse and what consent means within their relationships.
Healthy relationships are all about respecting each other. Unacceptable behaviour and being disrespectful comes in many forms – as well as physical behaviour, applying pressure on you to do something you don’t want to do, making you feel scared, intimidated or someone trying to control you.
The focus of the campaign is consent, sexting and personal boundaries, which are the issues many young people need more education and information on.
