West Lancashire College were delighted to welcome Tony Marriott, owner of Headlines Hair, into college this week, who is supporting them to ensure their Professional Hairdressing courses continue to meet the highest industry standards.
Tony, who has trained thousands of hairdressers over the years, worked alongside Collette Collins, Head of Learner Experience and Neil Farrell, Curriculum Manager, to share his experiences and expectations from the hairdressing industry point of view.
Tony highlighted that excellent customer service, a good attitude, excellent presentation and effective communication skills are equally as important as the technical skills required to become a hairdresser, and that the college should focus on developing these essential skills alongside qualifications so that students have the complete skill set required.
Tony Marriott said “The College’s commercial salons are a brilliant facility and I very much look forward to working with Collette and Neil to ensure West Lancashire College Hairdressing students graduate with the appropriate skills aligned to industry expectations.”
Employers are key to shaping qualifications so that when students qualify they are industry ready. The College’s purpose is to link their students to careers of the future by working alongside employers to help them to create a work ready pipeline for the future.
Collette Collins, Head of Learner Experience said “We are delighted to welcome Tony as a supporter of our Professional Hairdressing provision, and as a leading practitioner in the North West. We look forward to developing our partnership further so that we can give West Lancashire College Hairdressing graduates the competitive edge in this creative industry.”
