Titan the Robot performs on Church Square.

With the half-term holiday ahead, residents can rest assured knowing there’s more than enough going on in St Helens to keep the whole family happy.

On Saturday 22 October, prepare to be amazed when Titan the Robot returns to St Helens.

The 8ft mechanical world-renowned star who has featured on the X-Factor will treat large crowds to three free performances at 11am, 1pm and 3pm in Church Square.

As well as appearing in St Helens town centre previously, Titan has also carried the Olympic torch and performed at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Titan’s unique blend of comedy, street theatre and music has made him a star attraction at high profile events throughout the world and he’s performed alongside superstars including Rihanna, Will Smith and Jackie Chan.

Between Titan’s shows, international performance group Paris Bubbles will be bringing their particular brand of entertainment – creating wonderful and interactive bubble displays – to St Helens.

Then, ahead of Halloween, families are invited to attend two ghoulish events – a GoActive Halloween Trail at Taylor Park on Friday 28 October, 5pm, and a Spooky Welly Walk at Sherdley Park on Saturday 29 October, organised by The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

Like to be spooked? Then Tall Tales for Dark Nights is for you, offering an alternative World of Glass museum tour, glass blowing, film showing and hotpot supper, all after dark, Friday 28 October, 6:30pm and 7pm. Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4 for children, and can be booked at the museum or by telephone on 01744 22766.

If you’re looking for something free to do indoors this half-term, head down to St Helens libraries:

· Develop photographic sunlight prints from the historic George Street Collection on 26 October, Thatto Heath Library (11am-1pm) and Newton-le-Willows Library (3pm-5pm).
· Grandparents and grandchildren can create grand-story picture books, also using photos from the George Street Collection as part of the St Helens Through the Lens project, with artist-in-residence Debbie Cooper, on 25 October, Chester Lane Library (11am-1pm) and Rainhill Library (3pm-5pm).
· See Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as you never have before with live music and audience interaction, 27 October, Newton-le-Willows Library (2pm).
· Look into the future with touring exhibition Northern Powerhouse 2065, and play the online adventure game created with young people across the North by Re-Dock. The exhibit is at Eccleston Library until 22 October, when it moves to Central Library 24 October – 30 November.

Fancy a spot of theatre? The Wizard of Oz is showing at the Theatre Royal throughout half-term, from 22-30 October, with tickets from £10 for children. Book at the box office, online at www.sthelenstheatreroyal.com or call 01744 756 000.
