Warrington Market is going back to the future on Saturday 3 October.
Following the huge success of the comic convention in May this year, Warrington Market is running a time travel convention!
A DeLorean time machine from the ‘Back to the Future’ trilogy will be on display inside the market on the day and there will also be a live model steam train outside attempting to push a model DeLorean up to 8.8mph. Live actors will play the characters from the movie and with help from visitors, they will attempt to get the train up to the speed to help DeLorean to get back to 1985.
October 2015 is also a significant date in the trilogy, as this is the date that the characters travel to when they go 30 years into the future.
Other attractions include Dr Who and his Tardis as they attempt to save the market from the Daleks. An Arnold Schwarzenegger lookalike and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, Stu Arnold, performing as the Terminator, will also be entertaining the crowds.
Anyone wishing to be taken to a completely different “time” will have the opportunity to sit on the iron throne from the Game of Throne T.V series.
All of these attractions will be supported by 40 specialist stalls of retro memorabilia, comics and gaming experiences, plus many more surprises! All cosplay enthusiasts are invited to come along to celebrate the day and spot prizes will be given out to those who impress the organisers!
Cllr Mike Hannon, deputy leader of the council, said: “The traders at Warrington Market are certainly ahead of their time in the way keep delivering innovative promotions such as the successful Comic Convention and Medieval Day.
“The important message behind all these events is to show residents that the market remains fully open for business while the redevelopment works currently take place in the Bridge Street quarter. We are all looking forward to taking the market into the future!”
On the day, the classic car show will make a welcome return with a timeless exhibition of recent history just outside the market. If you own a classic car and wish to join in the display, please contact the market manager on 01925 632571, or email email@example.com to reserve your pitch.
