A giant Gingerbread House is set to be the star of the show for one family this Christmas, as they were picked as the lucky winners of a competition run by a local restaurant.

The Town Green Brasserie in Aughton, owned by the award-winning Seafood Pub Company, held the competition to raise money for two local hospices.

Chefs at the venue created the Gingerbread House which consisted of sweets, icing and lots of treats, to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice and The Legacy Rainbow House.

Raffle tickets were sold throughout the month and the lucky winner, Richard Forrest was picked at random on the 18th December. As well as receiving the house, Richard was treated to a bottle of champagne.

“I was delighted when I learned I had won the competition, my son Dylan couldn’t wait to take it home and have a taste,” said Richard.

“We can’t thank the Town Green Brasserie enough, a fantastic competition for a great cause; the chefs had obviously spent a lot of time and effort making the house!”

Dan Mcdonald, general manager at the Town Green Brasserie said: “There was a real buzz about the place when the house was completed and both staff and customers were excited to find out who had won the amazing Gingerbread House.”

“Well done to Richard and Dylan, I’m sure the house will be a great addition to the family Christmas.  Thank you to everyone who took part, we’ve raised money for two fantastic charities.”
