St Helens will once again experience a carnival-like atmosphere when it stages its free annual Summer Streets festival on Saturday 13 August in Church Square.
Expect a line-up of top artists and attractions from the world of comedy, music, acrobatics, dance, magic and theatre – with all the action taking place on the streets in the town centre from 11am -4pm.
A large drumming parade by Katumba will get this year’s event underway at 11am.
The timetable for this year’s event at the Performance Marquee (Church Square) is as follows:
11am -11:15am/13:15pm – Drumming parade by Katumba.
11:30am/13:40pm –Anyone for Tennis (A hilarious but thrilling “one setter”)
12:00pm/14:15pm – L’Hotel (includes cabaret, dances and acrobatics)
12:40pm/14:50pm – Bruce Airhead (comedy show)
Meanwhile, there will be unique performances throughout the day from acrobatics group, Black Eagles; roaming interactive theatre/dance group, ‘Bodyguards’ – and walkabout stilt walker acts the Hungry Chefs, Treemendous –and Make Up (comedy street act duo). There will be a small acoustic stage with music throughout the day hosted by the Citadel Arts Centre in collaboration with Jamm Studios.
St Helens Council Leader, Councillor Barrie Grunewald said: “For the past few years, Summer Streets has entertained thousands of people of all ages through the wild and wonderful acts on show, so I’m delighted to see it back this year.
“The town centre will be buzzing with performances from all over the world on what will be a day of fabulous free entertainment for all the family to enjoy.”
