Free dog chipping event

Residents in south Warrington should take advantage of a free dog chipping event later this month.

The council’s South Area Team has organised the event on Wednesday 19th August, at St Werburgh’s Community Hub, Boswell Avenue between 10am and 2pm.

It has been organised to encourage residents to have their dogs chipped for free as it will soon become compulsory under new laws for dog owners to get their pet microchipped.

Microchipping is designed to ensure the fast return of your pet in the event of theft or loss.

In addition, Pet’s Pantry, a pet shop in Stockton Heath will be on hand to give information on issues such as dog nutrition and caring for your pet.

There will also be a free demonstration on dog training, given by Paw Performance, an organisation based in Grappenhall.

Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “This is great for dog owners and is the first of its kind to be held in South Warrington. We would encourage all dog-owners in the area to take advantage of what promises to be an entertaining, informative day.”
