A former West Lancashire College student has been added to the prestigious Association of College’s Roll of Honour.

Former student Sarah Travis was added to the Honours list in light of her work and studies within the Childcare industry. Sarah studied at West Lancashire College from 2010 to 2012 and was awarded National Childcare Student of the Year in 2012; an award given to a student or trainee practitioner who performs brilliantly on their course, and who shows the potential to be a great childcare professional.

Sarah has since continued her studies at Liverpool Hope University and is on target to complete her degree in Primary Teaching in 2015.

The roll of honour celebrates the diversity and talent of Further Education alumni. The honour system has been devised by the Association of Colleges to include nominees who were shortlisted for their annual Gold Awards.

The former Ormskirk School student completed the BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development at West Lancashire College and was nominated for the award by her College tutors back in March 2012. They were asked to base their choice on excellence in academic work and in the work place.

Sarah acknowledges the important part the College played in her achievements. Sarah said “The support I received from my tutors was fantastic. It was an unforgettable experience and I’m really thankful to my tutors and placement hosts for all the opportunities and support I was given. I’m excited to complete my degree and to start working in the industry.”
