Football therapy for women

0

Women who experience mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, stress or low mood are welcome to join [me]united – a football therapy project that aims to improve player’s mental wellbeing. Women who simply want to improve their mental health are also welcome to join.

[Me]united knows there can be barriers to playing sport for those who deal with mental health issues such as lack of motivation and low confidence. This why [me]united provide positive coaching in a friendly environment for participants to play football and enjoy themselves with like-minded people.

If you have symptoms of a mental illness or want to overcome psychological or sociological barriers, you can receive support for your mental health as well as make friends, build confidence and keep active.

The sessions are led by a FA qualified coach and you’re welcome to take part whatever your football ability. It’s all about having fun so there’s no need to worry about your skills.

The first women’s [me]united weekly training session begins on Thursday 23 August from 6pm to 7pm at Halewood Leisure Centre. There’s four weeks of sessions and they are all completely free.

If you would like to join or find out more, you can email matthew@meunited.co.uk or call 07554 362 920.

You can visit the [me]united website and Facebook page to keep up-to-date with the project
