Two famous names in the horticultural world will be visiting the award-winning Chorley Flower Show on 28 and 29 July as more details of the popular event are being revealed.

Carol Klein and Adam Frost will be attending the Chorley Council-run show hosting talks, speaking to visitors and passing on top tips to keep your garden looking great.

Ticket sales are already underway with people from all over the country visiting last year’s show which is seeing Chorley gain a reputation as the Northern Flowerhouse.

Rebecca Huddleston, Director at Chorley Council, said: “The flower show is growing in popularity and we’re delighted that both Carol and Adam are visiting this year as they will prove to be a great attraction for visitors.

“We’ve got lots planned in the coming months to make this the best show of its kind in the North West and the news about Carol and Adam comes just after we revealed plans to create a new permanent show garden to commemorate 100 years since the end of World War One, which is going to be a real feature of the show and park for years to come.

“If you’ve not been before it’s well worth putting the dates of 28 and 29 July in your diary because it is a great day out for all generations of the family and if you buy tickets now you’ll save 20 per cent on the gate prices.”

Carol, who will be attending on the Sunday, will be returning to the show after just receiving the Victoria Medal of Honour from the Royal Horticultural Society, which is the top award you can receive and is testament to her standing in the horticultural world.

Adam is a presenter on BBC television and is well-known for his passion for connecting gardening to the natural landscape. He has won seven gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and will be attending the show on the Saturday.

“Adam will provide a good contrast to the celebrities we’ve had in previous years and you don’t need to say anything about Carol as she is probably the biggest name in the horticultural world,” said Rebecca.

“We’ll be keeping people up-to-date with all the new features for this year’s show in the coming weeks and if you enjoy gardening yourself why not consider entering the amateur competition with applications now open.
