With the help from St Helens Council’s Go Active, Sports Development and Public Health teams, council buildings around the town engaged in activities such as Zumba and spinning classes.

Meanwhile, the Mayor and Mayoress of St Helens, Councillors Steve and Lynn Glover got a feel of East Asia by taking part in the Chinese martial art, Tai Chi in Church Square, which has links to huge health benefits.

Cabinet member for Public Health and Wellbeing, Jeanie Bell said: “Research shows if you exercise with others you are more likely to stick at it. A combination of social atmosphere and camaraderie creates a positive atmosphere and importantly helps us to have fun.”
