Firefighters have rescued a two year old boy who had got stuck inside a washing machine at his home in China. The toddler had climbed into the spin dryer section of the washing machine in an effort to retrieve a toy; however he managed to get his legs stuck in a basket.

Firefighters were called to the boy’s home in the eastern city of Nanjing, which is located in the Jiangsu province.

Plans for freeing the toddler were discussed, and it was decided that they would carefully take the washing machine apart. First a saw and hydraulic pliers were used to open the washer’s cabinet, then in order to break the basket a hacksaw and scissors were used.

The boy was released uninjured following the delicate 30 minute operation.
