Chorley is set to come alive to the sound of music this weekend as the hugely popular Chorley Live returns for its fifth year.

Over Friday 6 and Saturday 7 October Chorley Town centre will have a buzz of excitement as 30 venues play host to a variety of local artist and performers. A full list of 240 performances over the two evenings is now available to view at the dedicated Chorley Live website chorleylive.com.

The event, which will see people of all ages, including children, making their way into the town centre, has something for everyone. The wide variety of music genres and differing styles of venues create a unique community night out and a fantastic relaxed atmosphere within the town centre, with people getting entry to all venues both nights for via a wristband that costs just £5.

Chorley Council is again teaming up with the Creative Network to put on the fifth Chorley Live festival of music and entertainment, with this year’s event looking to top the 9,000 people that enjoyed last year’s event.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, said: “Chorley Live is back again bigger and better than ever. Each year the event has grown, and this year is no different.

“Last year’s event saw over 9,000 people attend over the two evenings and this year we are looking to break the 10,000 barrier which is amazing for just the fifth year.

“The wide variety of music ensures there really is something for everyone, last year the event was enjoyed by peoples of all ages, including children. There is a real community atmosphere around the town and it was great to see so many people enjoy what Chorley has to offer.

“If you haven’t been to Chorley Live before then it is definitely worth the visit. If people are looking to plan a night out with friends or family then make sure you come along.”

“If you don’t normally go out in Chorley then I hope you’ll think about getting your wristband and supporting both the local artists and town centre businesses.”

“We will also have some free children’s entertainment and face painting during the daytime on Saturday 7 October to celebrate the event. Louby Lou will be on Cleveland Street near the covered market from 10.30 – 12.30 and we will have free face painting through the day.”

The event will see people able to gain entry into the venues using a wristband that will cost £5 (U12s free) enabling people to choose from 240 live performances on the Friday and Saturday evenings.

Nigel Stewart, of the Creative Network and who has organised the acts, said it will bring a real community feel back into the town.

“Once again there’s a real buzz about the event and I’m delighted with the variety and quality of acts we are able to bring to Chorley again this year,” he said.

“The event is such great value with access to 240 performances for just £5 – it’s like Glastonbury, but without the mud!

“The event brings the community together and it’s great to see three generations out together enjoying the fantastic entertainment.

“Each year the event has grown and this year will be no different. Last year we sold out of wristbands and we anticipate the same this year so don’t delay get your wristband now and tell your family and friends all about it”

The event is on Friday 6th and Saturday October 7th with live performances at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm at each venue.

Wristbands are on sale at each venue, from the acts taking part, and the council’s offices on Union Street. More details, including full schedules, can be found at the dedicated Chorley Live Web site: Chorleylive.com.

A programme containing details of all the performances is now available both online and at all the venues.
