The Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk is the place to go for great design and music in the coming months.

The latest exhibition Flat (Design, Build, Demolish) is an installation created by Dr Alex Jukes which gives visitors the opportunity to build new worlds, design cities and explore ideas about where they live, work and play.

To meet the artist and find out more about his work, book your free place online at tinyurl.com/w9vjsqt for the artist’s talk at the Gallery on Saturday 15 February at 2pm.

Anyone inspired by the exhibition to make their own dream town or city to live in should make a model of their creation and send a photo of it to the Utopia Design Competition.

Entries must be submitted to chapel.gallery@westlancs.gov.uk by Saturday 22 February. Age categories are 11 to 14 and 15 to 25. First prize in each category is £100 and second prize is £50.

There are also projection-mapping workshops available to local schools to teach pupils aged 11 and above to create illuminated and animated objects by working with professional projection-mapping software and a projector. The workshops take place on Friday afternoons from 12.30pm for two hours. For further information and to book places contact chapel.gallery@westlancs.gov.uk.

On the last Wednesday evening of every month, the Gallery will host The Jazz Spectrum. The programme will kick off on 26 February with sax sultan Mike Smith and Tom Stichbury on guitar.

The Gallery’s art filled refurbished café bar is open Tuesday to Saturday.
